UNDERGROUND BIOMES
Cave biomes found deep beneath the surface with unique ecosystems. 4 biomes in this category.
What makes a biome underground
Four biomes make up the smallest group on this site: Lush Caves, Dripstone Caves, Deep Dark and Pale Garden. It is also the youngest group by a distance, because all four arrived in 1.18 or later and Pale Garden only in 1.21.4, which makes it the most recent biome anywhere on this site.
Seven mobs spawn in these four and in no other group, which is more exclusive mobs than any other climate holds: the axolotl and the glow squid in the water of Lush Caves, the zombie, spider and creeper in the dark of Dripstone Caves, the warden in Deep Dark and the creaking in Pale Garden. One structure generates in the group, the Ancient City, and it sits in Deep Dark alone.
All 4 underground biomes
A beautiful underground biome. Axolotls spawn exclusively here. Azalea trees on the surface indicate lush caves below. Glow berries provide natural light.
Features pointed dripstone formations. Stalactites can drip water to fill cauldrons. Pointed dripstone deals extra fall damage. Large ore veins can generate here.
The most dangerous underground biome. Home to the Warden, which is attracted by vibrations and can deal massive damage. Ancient Cities contain unique loot including echo shards and disc fragments.
A pale, eerie biome featuring ghostly pale oak trees and hanging moss. The Creaking mob spawns here, animated by Creaking Heart blocks hidden in trees. Part of the Pale Garden update.
Mobs across these 4 biomes
Ten mobs live in the four underground biomes and seven of them are found nowhere else on this site, the highest count of exclusive mobs of any group. Dripstone Caves holds the most with five.
