Sparse Jungle

A sparser version of the jungle with smaller trees and less undergrowth. Previously called Jungle Edge. Acts as a transition biome.
Overview
The Sparse Jungle biome is an uncommon biome that takes a little searching to find, generated in the Overworld dimension and classed as a warm biome. Its climate is warm and humid, so the Sparse Jungle gets rainfall. In technical terms the game tracks it with a temperature value of 0.95 and the biome ID minecraft:sparse_jungle.
Its defining terrain features are scattered jungle trees and less dense vegetation than jungle. A sparser version of the jungle with smaller trees and less undergrowth. Previously called Jungle Edge. Acts as a transition biome.
The Sparse Jungle biome was added to Minecraft in 1.7.2 and is still generated in version 1.21. Like all Overworld biomes it is shaped by the surrounding temperature and humidity, so the exact borders of any Sparse Jungle you find will shift from world to world.
Where to find it
The Sparse Jungle biome only generates in the Overworld. It commonly borders Jungle, Bamboo Jungle and Savanna, so finding any of those is a good sign you are close.
It rings the edges of jungles with thinner tree cover; treat it as a transition zone into the dense jungle.
If cheats or operator permissions are available, the fastest method is the command “/locate biome minecraft:sparse_jungle”, which points you to the nearest Sparse Jungle and gives its coordinates. Without commands you have to explore for the Sparse Jungle on foot: because it is uncommon, ordinary travel through the Overworld will usually reveal one before long.
Mobs
On the peaceful side, the Sparse Jungle biome is home to Ocelot and Chicken. The Ocelot, for example, can be coaxed close with raw cod and scares away creepers and phantoms. Together they make the Sparse Jungle a useful place to gather food, leather and other animal drops.
Blocks & resources
The blocks that give the Sparse Jungle biome its character include Jungle Log, Jungle Leaves and Vine. Within the Sparse Jungle, Jungle Log, Jungle Leaves and Vine are the most useful to gather early, whether for building, crafting or decoration.
Players typically visit the Sparse Jungle biome to collect wood from its trees, which makes it a worthwhile stop for that resource.
Structures & features
No generated structures are tied to the Sparse Jungle biome, so exploring it rewards you with its scattered jungle trees and scenery rather than buildings to loot. Generation that ignores biome boundaries, such as mineshafts, dungeons and the occasional stronghold, can still be dug up beneath the Sparse Jungle.
