BEACH & SPECIAL BIOMES
Coastal biomes and unique terrain formations like mushroom fields. 6 biomes in this category.
What makes a biome beach & special
Six biomes that do not fit a climate: the shore biomes Beach and Stony Shore, the very rare Mushroom Fields, and the three windswept ones that stand on steep exposed stone. Temperature runs from 0.2 on Stony Shore and the windswept biomes up to 0.9 in Mushroom Fields, so the group spans nearly the whole mild range on its own.
One structure generates in the whole group, buried treasure under Beach, and it appears in no other biome on this site. Turtles and mooshrooms spawn here and nowhere else, and Windswept Hills, Windswept Gravelly Hills and Windswept Forest are the only three biomes on this site that list emerald ore among their blocks.
All 6 beach & special biomes
Generates where land biomes meet the ocean. Turtles lay eggs on beaches. Buried treasure chests can be found using treasure maps from shipwrecks.
Rocky coastal biome where mountains meet the ocean. Features steep cliff faces. No passive mobs naturally spawn here.
One of the rarest biomes. Hostile mobs cannot naturally spawn here, making it the safest biome. Mooshrooms are exclusive to this biome. Mycelium replaces grass.
Previously called Extreme Hills. Emerald ore generates naturally here. Llamas can spawn. Infested stone blocks contain silverfish.
A variant of windswept hills with gravel replacing much of the surface. Previously called Gravelly Mountains. Can be treacherous due to gravel slides.
Forested variant of windswept hills. Combines dramatic elevation with dense tree coverage. Previously called Wooded Mountains.

Mushroom Fields is one of the two very rare biomes on the site and the one surface where hostile mobs stay away at night. Three of the six are common, so the group is split between what you cross by accident and what you may never find.
Sixteen blocks across the six, from mycelium in Mushroom Fields to the emerald ore in the windswept three.
