Beach

Generates where land biomes meet the ocean. Turtles lay eggs on beaches. Buried treasure chests can be found using treasure maps from shipwrecks.
Overview
The Beach biome is a common biome you will run into often, generated in the Overworld dimension and classed as a beach & special biome. Its climate is warm and humid, so the Beach gets rainfall. In technical terms the game tracks it with a temperature value of 0.8 and the biome ID minecraft:beach.
Its defining terrain features are sand shoreline, sugar cane and gentle slope into water. Generates where land biomes meet the ocean. Turtles lay eggs on beaches. Buried treasure chests can be found using treasure maps from shipwrecks.
The Beach biome was added to Minecraft in Beta 1.8 and is still generated in version 1.21. Like all Overworld biomes it is shaped by the surrounding temperature and humidity, so the exact borders of any Beach you find will shift from world to world.
Where to find it
The Beach biome only generates in the Overworld. It commonly borders Ocean, Plains, Forest and River, so finding any of those is a good sign you are close.
It forms the sandy shoreline wherever ordinary land biomes meet the sea.
If cheats or operator permissions are available, the fastest method is the command “/locate biome minecraft:beach”, which points you to the nearest Beach and gives its coordinates. Without commands you have to explore for the Beach on foot: because it is common, ordinary travel through the Overworld will usually reveal one before long.
Mobs
On the peaceful side, the Beach biome is home to Turtle. The Turtle, for example, lays eggs in the sand it hatched on and drops a turtle scute used for the Turtle Shell helmet.
Blocks & resources
The blocks that give the Beach biome its character include Sand, Sandstone and Sugar Cane. Within the Beach, Sand, Sandstone and Sugar Cane are the most useful to gather early, whether for building, crafting or decoration.
Players typically visit the Beach biome to collect sugar cane for paper and books, which makes it a worthwhile stop for that resource.
Structures & features
The Beach biome can generate Buried Treasure, a single loot chest marked on maps recovered from shipwrecks and ocean ruins, usually holding a Heart of the Sea.
Finding Buried Treasure is one of the main reasons to seek out the Beach biome.
