Bamboo Jungle

Bamboo, in stands dense enough to walk through blind. This is where the game puts most of its bamboo, growing out of podzol under jungle trees.

Pandas spawn here more often than anywhere else, which makes it the biome to go to if you want one. Bamboo itself is worth the trip twice over: it is fuel, it is scaffolding, and it grows back faster than you can cut it. Ocelots, parrots and chickens share the floor.

It is rare, sits at temperature 0.95 with 0.9 humidity, and shares the warm humid climate of the jungle around it: rainfall, never snow. minecraft:bamboo_jungle was added in 1.14 and 26.2 still fills it with stalks.

Bamboo only thickens into a biome of its own inside an Overworld jungle, so this is one you reach by reaching another first. Jungle and Sparse Jungle border it, and there is no third way in.

Find dense stands of bamboo growing through the jungle on a podzol floor.

Rare, in the sense that the jungle has to be standing before the bamboo can take over part of it. Follow the rivers that cut a jungle apart by boat and watch the floor: podzol underfoot and a panda ahead mean you have crossed the line. You will cover the search quicker from above: a fast mount shortens it, elytra shortens it a great deal more, and the rivers following the jungle floor are the only signposts you will meet.

Pandas turn this biome upside down. They take 47 percent of a spawn attempt here against roughly 1 percent in ordinary jungle, one or two at a time, each with its own randomised personality, and the bamboo standing all around them is exactly what they breed near.

Parrots follow on 24 percent, tameable and happy to perch on you while mimicking nearby mob sounds. Chickens hold 6 percent in fours, laying eggs and leaving feathers with the raw chicken. Ocelots stay at about 1 in 250; raw cod coaxes one close, and having it around keeps creepers and phantoms at a distance. Counted per spawn attempt, panda is 47% of the animals, one to two at a time. Behind it, parrot a quarter and ocelot 1 in 250. A panda has randomised personalities and breeds when bamboo is nearby, which is harmless company by Minecraft standards, and an ocelot coaxed close with raw cod scares creepers and phantoms away; the chickens, for example, give feathers and raw chicken.

Bamboo is the crop, Podzol the floor and Jungle Log the timber. Bamboo grows back faster than any tree you could plant in its place, so a stand of it is fuel, scaffolding and a stick farm at once, and it is planted here twice over: as the thick stalks and again as the undergrowth between the trees.

Bamboo, Jungle Log and Melon are the kind of block only a few biomes grow, and two of them are underfoot here. Worth a detour if you need wood from its trees and bamboo without cutting through an ordinary jungle to reach it.

The Podzol matters as well: grass will not spread onto it, which makes a bamboo jungle the tidiest floor to build on. Fire burns itself out faster here than elsewhere.

Knowing that the whole biome gives you a handful of block types keeps the packing simple: an axe, a shovel and one empty slot for the stalks.

One older structure, and it is the same ziggurat the jungle keeps. A jungle temple built from mossy cobblestone can generate among the bamboo, protected by tripwire arrow traps and a redstone lever puzzle, and only two biomes here produce one.

Dense bamboo stalks make it harder to spot here than in ordinary jungle, so cut a path rather than walking one. Podzol on the ground and jungle trees above are the rest of the biome, while the ground below holds mineshaft tunnels, dungeon rooms behind their walls and the odd stronghold, none of which care what grows on top. Finding the temple is the main reason most players seek this jungle out, and the bamboo reaches over it. Among the reasons to come, it is the only one made of stone, and all of it sits under a canopy of stalks.

The second arrived with 26.3: an Abandoned Camp fenced in bamboo, on podzol under the vines, with a patch of melons beside the campsite in some layouts. Straw beds fill its white tent, one layout keeps an oxidized copper golem as a statue, and the chest holds a map to another camp.

Bamboo is not placed by a fixed count here but by a noise field, so density varies across the biome instead of per chunk, and on top of that the world tries 30 bamboo clumps with jungle plants in every chunk. Melons come on one chunk in six with 64 tries each time. Vines get 127 tries per chunk. That is 49 passes in total, one of the busiest lists in the game.

The pandas are the reason to come and they look the same everywhere. The chickens between the stalks are warm variants, because the bamboo jungle is warm ground like the jungle it grows out of.

Warm frogs and a stronghold preference come with it.

A jungle pyramid can stand among the bamboo, which makes this the second of only two biomes in the world that can hold one.

There are no trail ruins here, unlike the ordinary jungle, and the rest of the list is the jungle portal, the mineshafts and the chambers in their -40 to -20 band.

Everything that spawns in Bamboo Jungle is worth something. Between them the mobs here drop 3 different things: bamboo, feathers and chicken.

47.1 percent of the animal draw in Bamboo Jungle goes to Panda, so bamboo is what this biome hands out most. Behind it in the same draw come Parrot on 23.5 percent for feathers and Chicken on 5.9 percent for chicken and feathers.

The bamboo jungle is the fastest renewable resource in the game. Bamboo grows here in dense stands, it regrows in minutes, and it turns into scaffolding, sticks and fuel, which makes this the standard biome to build an automatic farm next to.

Podzol covers the ground under the stalks, jungle logs still grow between them, and pandas spawn more often here than in any other jungle. A jungle pyramid can generate in a bamboo jungle as well.

The bamboo jungle keeps its name across the editions and its climate with it: 0.95 temperature and 0.9 downfall, identical to the ordinary jungle it grows beside.

Water is #14a2c5 on Bedrock against #3F76E4 on Java, and Bedrock still generates bamboo_jungle_hills, the biome Java carried as Bamboo Jungle Hills until 1.18.

Bamboo Jungle arrived in 1.14 with the name it still carries, and Bamboo Jungle has kept it through all 48 releases since.

Bamboo Jungle counts towards Adventuring Time, which asks you to discover 56 of the game's 67 biomes. Bamboo Jungle is one of the 11 warm biomes on that list, and standing in it for a moment is enough to tick it off.
