Cherry Grove

The Cherry Grove biome is a rare biome that can require travelling a long way to locate, generated in the Overworld dimension and classed as a temperate biome. Its climate is mild and temperate, so the Cherry Grove gets rainfall. In technical terms the game tracks it with a temperature value of 0.5 and the biome ID minecraft:cherry_grove.

Its defining terrain features are cherry blossom trees, pink petal ground cover and mountainside. A beautiful biome featuring pink cherry blossom trees. Generates on mountain hillsides. Cherry wood has a unique pink color. Added in the Trails & Tales update.

The Cherry Grove biome was added to Minecraft in 1.20 and is still generated in version 1.21. Like all Overworld biomes it is shaped by the surrounding temperature and humidity, so the exact borders of any Cherry Grove you find will shift from world to world.

The Cherry Grove biome only generates in the Overworld. It commonly borders Meadow, Grove and Forest, so finding any of those is a good sign you are close.

Its pink cherry-blossom canopy is unmistakable; it clings to mountain hillsides, so search highland regions.

If cheats or operator permissions are available, the fastest method is the command “/locate biome minecraft:cherry_grove”, which points you to the nearest Cherry Grove and gives its coordinates. Without commands you have to explore for the Cherry Grove on foot: because it is rare, be prepared to cover a lot of ground in search of it, ideally with a fast mount, boat or elytra.

On the peaceful side, the Cherry Grove biome is home to Pig, Sheep and Rabbit. The Pig, for example, drops porkchops and can be ridden with a saddle and carrot on a stick. Together they make the Cherry Grove a useful place to gather food, leather and other animal drops.

On the dangerous side of the Cherry Grove biome, watch for Bee. The Bee pollinates flowers, fills nests with honey and stings only when provoked.

The blocks that give the Cherry Grove biome its character include Cherry Log, Cherry Leaves, Pink Petals and Cherry Planks. Within the Cherry Grove, Cherry Log, Cherry Leaves, Pink Petals and Cherry Planks are the most useful to gather early, whether for building, crafting or decoration.

Players typically visit the Cherry Grove biome to collect wood from its trees, which makes it a worthwhile stop for that resource.

No generated structures are tied to the Cherry Grove biome, so exploring it rewards you with its cherry blossom trees and scenery rather than buildings to loot. Generation that ignores biome boundaries, such as mineshafts, dungeons and the occasional stronghold, can still be dug up beneath the Cherry Grove.
