Savanna Plateau

The Savanna Plateau biome is an uncommon biome that takes a little searching to find, generated in the Overworld dimension and classed as a warm biome. Its climate is extremely hot and arid, so it never rains here, so the Savanna Plateau gets no precipitation at all and stays permanently dry. In technical terms the game tracks it with a temperature value of 2 and the biome ID minecraft:savanna_plateau.

Its defining terrain features are elevated flat plateau, acacia trees and steep edges. An elevated version of the savanna with flat tops and steep cliff edges. Generates at higher altitudes. Same mobs and structures as regular savanna.

The Savanna Plateau biome was added to Minecraft in 1.7.2 and is still generated in version 1.21. Like all Overworld biomes it is shaped by the surrounding temperature and humidity, so the exact borders of any Savanna Plateau you find will shift from world to world.

The Savanna Plateau biome only generates in the Overworld. It commonly borders Savanna, Windswept Savanna and Badlands, so finding any of those is a good sign you are close.

It sits on raised tablelands above ordinary savanna; head for the elevated flat-topped mesa-like plateau regions.

If cheats or operator permissions are available, the fastest method is the command “/locate biome minecraft:savanna_plateau”, which points you to the nearest Savanna Plateau and gives its coordinates. Without commands you have to explore for the Savanna Plateau on foot: because it is uncommon, ordinary travel through the Overworld will usually reveal one before long.

On the peaceful side, the Savanna Plateau biome is home to Cow, Pig, Sheep, Chicken, Horse, Donkey and Armadillo. The Cow, for example, drops leather and beef and can be milked with a bucket. Together they make the Savanna Plateau a useful place to gather food, leather and other animal drops.

On the dangerous side of the Savanna Plateau biome, watch for Llama. The Llama spits at attackers and can be linked into caravans with leads.

The blocks that give the Savanna Plateau biome its character include Acacia Log, Acacia Leaves and Coarse Dirt. Within the Savanna Plateau, Acacia Log, Acacia Leaves and Coarse Dirt are the most useful to gather early, whether for building, crafting or decoration.

Players typically visit the Savanna Plateau biome to collect wood from its trees, which makes it a worthwhile stop for that resource.

The Savanna Plateau biome can generate a Village, a community of trading villagers with farms, an iron golem and beds, where the building palette matches the biome's wood and stone and a Pillager Outpost, a watchtower guarded by pillagers and a captain whose banner triggers the Bad Omen effect.

With Village and Pillager Outpost all able to appear in the Savanna Plateau biome, it is well worth exploring thoroughly, as each of these 2 structures offers its own loot and challenges.
