Frozen Peaks

Smooth, rounded mountain peaks covered in snow and packed ice. Goats can spawn here. Part of the 1.18 mountain generation overhaul.
Overview
The Frozen Peaks biome is an uncommon biome that takes a little searching to find, generated in the Overworld dimension and classed as a cold biome. Its climate is freezing, so water turns to ice and rainfall falls as snow, so the Frozen Peaks gets snowfall rather than rain. In technical terms the game tracks it with a temperature value of -0.7 and the biome ID minecraft:frozen_peaks.
Its defining terrain features are smooth snow-covered peaks, packed ice and ice formations. Smooth, rounded mountain peaks covered in snow and packed ice. Goats can spawn here. Part of the 1.18 mountain generation overhaul.
The Frozen Peaks biome was added to Minecraft in 1.18 and is still generated in version 1.21. Like all Overworld biomes it is shaped by the surrounding temperature and humidity, so the exact borders of any Frozen Peaks you find will shift from world to world.
Where to find it
The Frozen Peaks biome only generates in the Overworld. It commonly borders Jagged Peaks, Snowy Slopes and Grove, so finding any of those is a good sign you are close.
It caps the tallest mountains with smooth snow and packed ice; climb to the highest summits.
If cheats or operator permissions are available, the fastest method is the command “/locate biome minecraft:frozen_peaks”, which points you to the nearest Frozen Peaks and gives its coordinates. Without commands you have to explore for the Frozen Peaks on foot: because it is uncommon, ordinary travel through the Overworld will usually reveal one before long.
Mobs
On the peaceful side, the Frozen Peaks biome is home to Rabbit. The Rabbit, for example, drops rabbit hide, raw rabbit and occasionally a rabbit's foot.
On the dangerous side of the Frozen Peaks biome, watch for Goat. The Goat rams entities off ledges and drops a goat horn when it charges into a block.
Blocks & resources
The blocks that give the Frozen Peaks biome its character include Snow Block, Packed Ice, Ice and Stone. Within the Frozen Peaks, Snow Block, Packed Ice, Ice and Stone are the most useful to gather early, whether for building, crafting or decoration.
Structures & features
The Frozen Peaks biome can generate a Pillager Outpost, a watchtower guarded by pillagers and a captain whose banner triggers the Bad Omen effect.
Finding the Pillager Outpost is one of the main reasons to seek out the Frozen Peaks biome.
