NETHER BIOMES

Dangerous biomes found in the Nether dimension. 5 biomes in this category.

What makes a biome nether

Five biomes behind a Nether Portal, all of them at temperature 2.0 and all of them dry: no rain and no snow falls in any of the five. Nether Wastes is the oldest biome on this site after the first Overworld ones, and the other four arrived together in 1.16, which is why they share their nylium, their fungi and their shroomlights.

Six mobs belong to this group alone: the zombified piglin, the ghast, the magma cube, the piglin, the strider and the hoglin. Two structures generate here and neither one appears in the Overworld or the End: the Nether Fortress in all five biomes, and the Bastion Remnant in four of them, with Basalt Deltas as the one that carries a fortress and no bastion.

All 5 nether biomes

Mobs across these 5 biomes

Eight mobs behind the portal, six of them found nowhere but the Nether: the zombified piglin, the ghast, the magma cube, the piglin, the strider and the hoglin. Nether Wastes has six of the eight.

Structures in the nether biomes

Two structures generate here and neither one exists outside this dimension, and one of the five biomes carries only the first of the two.

None of the five counts as rare, so once you are through the portal it is a matter of walking rather than searching. Nether Wastes has the longest spawn list with six mobs, and Warped Forest the shortest with two.

Twenty nine blocks across just five biomes, most of them nylium, stems and the fungi that grow on them.
