Overview
The Jungle biome is an uncommon biome that takes a little searching to find, generated in the Overworld dimension and classed as a warm biome. Its climate is warm and humid, so the Jungle gets rainfall. In technical terms the game tracks it with a temperature value of 0.95 and the biome ID minecraft:jungle.
Its defining terrain features are tall jungle trees, dense vegetation, vines, melons and cocoa beans. Dense tropical biome with massive 2x2 jungle trees. Parrots, ocelots, and pandas spawn here. Jungle temples contain redstone puzzle traps.
The Jungle biome was added to Minecraft in 1.2.1 and is still generated in version 1.21. Like all Overworld biomes it is shaped by the surrounding temperature and humidity, so the exact borders of any Jungle you find will shift from world to world.
Where to find it
The Jungle biome only generates in the Overworld. It commonly borders Bamboo Jungle, Sparse Jungle, Swamp and Savanna, so finding any of those is a good sign you are close.
Look for hot, humid terrain packed with very tall trees, hanging vines, melons and cocoa.
If cheats or operator permissions are available, the fastest method is the command “/locate biome minecraft:jungle”, which points you to the nearest Jungle and gives its coordinates. Without commands you have to explore for the Jungle on foot: because it is uncommon, ordinary travel through the Overworld will usually reveal one before long.
Mobs
On the peaceful side, the Jungle biome is home to Ocelot, Parrot and Chicken. The Ocelot, for example, can be coaxed close with raw cod and scares away creepers and phantoms. Together they make the Jungle a useful place to gather food, leather and other animal drops.
On the dangerous side of the Jungle biome, watch for Panda. The Panda has randomised personalities and breeds when bamboo is nearby.
Blocks & resources
The blocks that give the Jungle biome its character include Jungle Log, Jungle Leaves, Vine, Melon, Cocoa Beans and Bamboo. Within the Jungle, Jungle Log, Jungle Leaves, Vine and Melon are the most useful to gather early, whether for building, crafting or decoration.
Players typically visit the Jungle biome to collect wood from its trees and bamboo, which makes it a worthwhile stop for stocking up on several resources at once.
Structures & features
The Jungle biome can generate a Jungle Temple, a mossy cobblestone ziggurat protected by tripwire arrow traps and a redstone lever puzzle.
Finding the Jungle Pyramid is one of the main reasons to seek out the Jungle biome.
