Grove

A snowy forest found on mountain slopes. Contains natural powder snow traps that can catch unsuspecting players. Leather boots prevent sinking.
Overview
The Grove biome is an uncommon biome that takes a little searching to find, generated in the Overworld dimension and classed as a cold biome. Its climate is freezing, so water turns to ice and rainfall falls as snow, so the Grove gets snowfall rather than rain. In technical terms the game tracks it with a temperature value of -0.2 and the biome ID minecraft:grove.
Its defining terrain features are snowy spruce trees on mountainsides and powder snow traps. A snowy forest found on mountain slopes. Contains natural powder snow traps that can catch unsuspecting players. Leather boots prevent sinking.
The Grove biome was added to Minecraft in 1.18 and is still generated in version 1.21. Like all Overworld biomes it is shaped by the surrounding temperature and humidity, so the exact borders of any Grove you find will shift from world to world.
Where to find it
The Grove biome only generates in the Overworld. It commonly borders Snowy Slopes, Meadow, Snowy Taiga and Taiga, so finding any of those is a good sign you are close.
It wraps the lower snowy slopes of mountains in spruce forest; search where snowy mountains meet treeline.
If cheats or operator permissions are available, the fastest method is the command “/locate biome minecraft:grove”, which points you to the nearest Grove and gives its coordinates. Without commands you have to explore for the Grove on foot: because it is uncommon, ordinary travel through the Overworld will usually reveal one before long.
Mobs
On the peaceful side, the Grove biome is home to Rabbit and Fox. The Rabbit, for example, drops rabbit hide, raw rabbit and occasionally a rabbit's foot. Together they make the Grove a useful place to gather food, leather and other animal drops.
On the dangerous side of the Grove biome, watch for Wolf. The Wolf can be tamed with bones to become a loyal combat pet.
Blocks & resources
The blocks that give the Grove biome its character include Spruce Log, Snow, Powder Snow and Snow Block. Within the Grove, Spruce Log, Snow, Powder Snow and Snow Block are the most useful to gather early, whether for building, crafting or decoration.
Players typically visit the Grove biome to collect wood from its trees, which makes it a worthwhile stop for that resource.
Structures & features
The Grove biome can generate a Pillager Outpost, a watchtower guarded by pillagers and a captain whose banner triggers the Bad Omen effect.
Finding the Pillager Outpost is one of the main reasons to seek out the Grove biome.
