The End

The The End biome is a common biome you will run into often, generated in the End dimension and classed as an end biome. Its climate is a fixed, weatherless temperature with no rain or snow, so the The End gets no precipitation at all and stays permanently dry. In technical terms the game tracks it with a temperature value of 0.5 and the biome ID minecraft:the_end.

Its defining terrain features are central island, obsidian pillars, end crystals and bedrock portal. The central End island where the Ender Dragon boss fight takes place. Features obsidian pillars with end crystals. After defeating the dragon, End Gateways appear leading to the outer End.

The The End biome was added to Minecraft in 1.0.0 and is still generated in version 1.21. As an End biome the The End floats in the void beneath a black sky with no weather of any kind.

The The End biome generates in the End, reached only after activating an End Portal in a Stronghold. It commonly borders End Highlands (across the void) and Small End Islands, so finding any of those is a good sign you are close.

Reach it through an End Portal built in a Stronghold; you arrive on the central island.

If cheats or operator permissions are available, the fastest method is the command “/locate biome minecraft:the_end”, which points you to the nearest The End and gives its coordinates. Without commands you have to explore for the The End on foot: because it is common, ordinary travel through End will usually reveal one before long.

The hostile life of the The End biome is led by Enderman and Ender Dragon. The Enderman teleports, picks up blocks and turns hostile if you look directly at its head, while the Ender Dragon is the dimension's boss, dropping a huge pool of experience and unlocking the End Gateways when defeated. Defeating the Ender Dragon is the central challenge of the entire dimension.

What makes the The End special is that the Ender Dragon spawns here and almost nowhere else in the game, so this is the biome to visit if you want to find it.

The blocks that give the The End biome its character include End Stone, Obsidian and Bedrock. Within the The End, End Stone, Obsidian and Bedrock are the most useful to gather early, whether for building, crafting or decoration.

The The End biome can generate an End Gateway, a small bedrock portal that teleports the player out to the outer End islands and the Exit Portal, the bedrock fountain that activates after the Ender Dragon dies and leads home (with the dragon egg on top).

With End Gateway and Exit Portal all able to appear in the The End biome, it is well worth exploring thoroughly, as each of these 2 structures offers its own loot and challenges.
